The physicians and staff of Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates, PC (MGI) are pleased to welcome your referred patients to our practice. MGI is dedicated to the care of patients with gastrointestinal conditions and are committed to providing high quality, cost conscious patient care. Our state-of-the-art medical facility and care in clinics and hospitals are conveniently located throughout the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, as well as many outlying towns in Nebraska and Iowa. Our practice is poised to meet the demands and needs of your referral population. Each of our physicians follows his or her patients and is active in their patient’s plans of care. However, our gastroenterologists also operate as a group and your patients may occasionally be seen by partners of your preferred gastroenterologist.
Our schedulers are available by phone from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday to schedule office visits or procedures. Fax completed Referral Forms to (402) 505-4710 and one of our friendly scheduling staff will contact your patient at the earliest convenience. Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates, PC, has a dedicated infusion center which provides intravenous medications used to treat inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Our infusion center provides optimal coordination of care with onsite gastroenterologists and specialized nursing staff. Our nursing staff is committed to providing the highest level of care available. The infusion center strives to make infusion treatments as convenient and stress-free as possible and offers the following amenities to enhance your patient’s infusion experience:

Entyvio – A biologic IV therapy drug given 6-8 times per year as treatment for Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis Entyvio Post Infusion Instructions

Stelara – A biologic therapy drug given 6-8 times per year as treatment for severely active Crohn’s disease Stelara Post Infusion Instructions
Tysabri – A monthly, biologic infusion therapy to treat moderate to severe Crohn’s Tysabri Post Infusion Instructions
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic at Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates, PC, offers cutting edge, compassionate medical care for people with all levels of inflammatory bowel disease. Our gastroenterologists are specialists in the medical management of IBD, offering innovative medical therapy. Our multidisciplinary approach provides access to gastroenterologists, case managers, dieticians, infusion center, and IBD support groups.

At Midwest Gastrointestinal Associates, PC, our gastroenterologist and specialized nursing staff provide evaluation and treatment of patients with chronic hepatitis B and C infections and other chronic liver diseases, such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, alcoholic liver disease, autoimmune hepatitis, hemochromatosis and primary biliary cirrhosis. Our clinic, in conjunction with Nebraska Medical Center liver transplant program, delivers evaluation of patients with cirrhosis who may be in need of liver transplantation as well.

Karisa Jansen, RD, LMNT
Certified in Adult Weight Management
Karisa was born and raised in Omaha. She received her bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Science and Dietetics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2003. She then went on to complete her dietetic internship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in 2004. Prior to joining Midwest GI, Karisa spent six years working at Hy-Vee as a registered dietitian. She completed the Commission on Dietetic Registration Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management in 2011. Karisa is dedicated to helping patients incorporate healthy eating into their everyday lives. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Medical Nutrition Therapy
As a referred patient with MGI, patients are eligible for a free consultation with our registered dietitian; including nutrition assessment and a plan of care tailored to meet their specific needs. Proper nutrition helps patients obtain better quality of life and choosing the right types, textures, and portions of foods can help patients find greater symptom relief. Our dietitian is available to coach patients in their necessary nutrition changes and they can make a life-long commitment to healthier choices.
