Derrick D. Eichele, M.D.

    Dr. Eichele was born and raised in Bismarck, North Dakota. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biologic Science Education and Anthropology and taught high school science in rural Arizona.  He later earned his medical degree from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks, ND. Dr. Eichele completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

    Dr Eichele has been the published author or coauthor on several peer-reviewed articles related to his main area of interest: inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). He has been engaged in several clinical trials related to advances in medical therapy for IBD.  He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, Crohn’s Colitis Foundation Nebraska, Medical Association of America, and was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology.  He has been an invited reviewer for several publications including the Inflammatory Bowel disease journal and ACG case reports. His clinical and research interests include developing effective treatment strategies for patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

    Outside of work Dr. Eichele fills his time by making memories with his wife and their five children.  They all love soccer, movies, running, and traveling.  His favorite vacation was taking the family on the Camino de Santiago.
